Basílio Simões, b. 1967, is a serial entrepreneur and business angel with more than 25 years of professional experience. He founded more than 10 technological startups, being the most relevant ISA (Intelligent Sensing Anywhere), back in 1990, that became an award-winning international high-tech company, listed in NYSE Alternext Lisbon (ALISA) and specializing in Telemetry and Remote Asset Management solutions for Oil & Gas industry, with more than 100 employees and 100.000 equipments deployed in 35 countries.
With the goal of developing an Innovation Technological Ecosystem and sharing his knowledge concerning funding and growing high-tech international companies, he became a Business Angel coordinating the Center Business Angel Club and managing seed capital and early stage funds that invested in more than 12 technological startups. These startups are growing in the last 5 years with a CAGR of above 40%, some of them have gone through additional large funding rounds and 3 exits with valuation multiples from 3 to 20 have been accomplished. He is also Invited Professor on Entrepreneurship and Technological Innovation at the Science and Technology Faculty of the University of Coimbra.
He holds a PhD in Technological Physics and over 25 years experience in the areas of electronics, telemetry and remote control (Internet of the Things), innovation management and entrepreneurship. He is author or co-author of several dozens of scientific publications in international refereed journals, managed several European projects and developed and patented several innovative remote management systems.
